Fit India Sundays Highlights Drug-Free Youth Campaign
Surat (Gujarat) [India], September 6: The message of 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat' took the spotlight during the 89th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle, held in Surat on Sunday. Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya spearheaded the cycling event, joined by Gujarat's Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi.
In a statement to the media, Minister Mandaviya noted that the 'Sundays on Cycle' initiative, which was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of the Fit India Movement, has successfully engaged over 5 million young individuals across 25,000 locations, advocating for a drug-free youth.
He emphasized the importance of a healthy population in fostering a robust society and a thriving nation. 'According to the Fit India Movement, PM Modi has rolled out the 'Sundays on Cycle' initiative nationwide... More than 5 million youths have taken part from over 25,000 locations, aiming to promote the message of 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat',' he stated.
Mandaviya further remarked, 'For any nation aspiring to develop, it is crucial to have a healthy populace... Healthy individuals contribute to a healthy society, which in turn fosters a prosperous country.'
It is noteworthy that during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort, Prime Minister Modi identified drug abuse as a significant challenge facing the nation and its youth.
The 89th edition of this initiative coincides with the 100-week nationwide Jan Bhagidari campaign under the 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan', aimed at establishing a sustained movement against substance abuse through sports, fitness, awareness, and community involvement.
The cycling event in Surat commenced at 6:00 AM from the Sardar Patel Statue at Mangadh Chowk, traversed through Mini Bazaar and Varachha Main Road, and concluded at Sarthana Zoo.
