Disruption of the TG20 League

In Hyderabad, T Shesh Narayan, the former Secretary and spokesperson for the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), has expressed concerns regarding attempts by certain individuals to undermine the ongoing TG20 League. He indicated that these actions are detrimental to the HCA's interests.

Narayan's remarks follow legal notices issued by the Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) to several celebrities, including actors Vijay Deverakonda and Venkatesh Daggubati, as well as cricketers Mohammed Siraj, Ambati Rayudu, and Tilak Varma. The TCA claims that the league is being held without the necessary approvals from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

According to TCA General Secretary Gurava Reddy, the association has raised objections to the involvement of celebrities in what they label an 'illegal' and 'unapproved' league organized by the HCA.

Shesh Narayan emphasized that the HCA operates under a constitution sanctioned by the Supreme Court, and any amendments to this structure require court approval. He stated, 'Certain elements within the state are engaging in actions that are harmful to the HCA.'

He further noted that individuals are exploiting the situation to disrupt the TG20 League by questioning its permissions. Narayan urged that any grievances with the BCCI should be addressed directly to the board.

He warned that if the situation in Hyderabad is not addressed promptly, it could extend to other states. The HCA has already lodged a police complaint and is contemplating legal action, citing financial losses incurred due to the legal notices. Some sponsors have also withdrawn their support, although Narayan maintains that the TG20 League is thriving.

'This issue in Hyderabad could spread to other regions if not contained early. We have filed a police complaint and are exploring judicial options, as the HCA has faced losses of approximately 10 to 15 crores due to these frivolous legal notices,' he stated. 'Despite some sponsors pulling out, the TG20 remains one of the most successful leagues in the country, reflecting Hyderabad's unique passion for cricket.'
