Carlos Alcaraz Withdraws from Queen's Club and Wimbledon Due to Wrist Injury
Carlos Alcaraz's Withdrawal Announcement
New Delhi [India] - Carlos Alcaraz has confirmed that he will not participate in the HSBC Championships at Queen's Club or Wimbledon, citing a wrist injury as the reason for his withdrawal. Currently ranked No. 2 in the ATP Rankings, Alcaraz is prioritizing his recovery and rehabilitation before re-entering the competitive scene.
In a post on X, Alcaraz expressed, "My recovery is progressing well, and I feel significantly better. However, I am not yet prepared to compete, which is why I must withdraw from the grass-court events at Queen's and Wimbledon. These tournaments hold a special place in my heart, and I will miss them dearly. I am committed to returning as soon as possible!"
Wimbledon is scheduled to take place from June 29 to July 12, where Alcaraz has previously claimed the men's singles title twice.
His last appearance was at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, where he secured a victory in his first match against Otto Virtanen but had to withdraw before his second-round match.
Prior to that, Alcaraz competed in the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, finishing as the runner-up after losing to Jannik Sinner in the final.
Following his defeat in Monte-Carlo, Alcaraz dropped to the No. 2 spot in the ATP Rankings.
The seven-time Grand Slam champion had received treatment for his right wrist and forearm during his opening match at the Barcelona Open on April 14.
At the Laureus World Sports Awards 2026, where he was honored as Sportsman of the Year, Alcaraz was seen wearing a wrist brace, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding his injury.
