Celebrating Women Footballers in India

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 3: As the Indian Women's League (IWL) gears up for the 2026–27 season, Capri Sports has introduced a new campaign titled 'Meet the Unstoppables'. This initiative highlights the journey, determination, and aspirations of women footballers throughout India.

The campaign narrates the story of a female footballer, illustrating her path from grassroots to the professional arena, showcasing the years of commitment, sacrifice, and tireless effort required to reach the pinnacle of women's club football in the nation.

In recent years, women's football in India has seen remarkable growth, with players nationwide dedicating themselves to the sport, refining their skills, and advancing through various levels.

Today, these athletes' dedication and talent have led them to compete in the Lxme IWL, the country's premier women's football league. This league offers them a significant platform to demonstrate their skills, gaining increased visibility and recognition as they inspire future generations. 'Meet the Unstoppables' captures this evolution, showcasing the intensity, skill, and competitive spirit of a generation poised to elevate Indian women's football.

The campaign features eight rising stars, each representing one of the eight clubs participating in the Lxme IWL. Featured players include Shubhangi from Gokulam Kerala FC, Chanu from East Bengal FC, Shruti from BBFS Garhwal United FC, Anushka from Kickstart FC, Kiran from Juba Sangha FC, Pooja from HOPS FC, Malavika from Sethu FC, and Cindy from Nita Football Academy. While these athletes are the focal point of the campaign, they symbolize a broader community of girls and women across India who are passionate about football and committed to advancing the sport.

The film encapsulates powerful moments and sentiments that reflect the mindset of these players, portraying a generation that refuses to be limited. Phrases like 'Sure we have hit walls, but practice ke liye perfect yaar' (Of course, we have faced barriers, but that’s what makes for the perfect practice), 'Pressure? Aane do, ussi se toh champions bante hai' (Pressure? Bring it on, that’s what makes champions), and 'This is Us, This is Our Game' emphasize the resilience, confidence, and collective identity of women footballers ready to assert their place in the sport.

This campaign emerges at a time when women's football in India is experiencing enhanced quality and competitiveness, with the Indian Senior Women's National Team currently ranked 69th in the FIFA Women's World Rankings and 13th in Asia. This progress reflects the expanding talent pool and the dedication of players striving to elevate the game's standards. However, the next challenge is to ensure that this advancement is accompanied by increased visibility, better opportunities, and a sustainable professional pathway for women footballers.

Ms. Jinisha Sharma, Director & Promoter of Capri Sports, commented on the campaign, stating, 'The remarkable aspect of women's football in India is not that these players have faced challenges. It is that, despite everything, they have consistently shown up for the sport they cherish. Their ambition and talent have never been the issue. What has been lacking is the attention, investment, and platform to match it. Meet the Unstoppables aims to acknowledge the extraordinary commitment already present in the game. Through the Lxme IWL, we aspire to ensure that the future of women's football is defined not by the hurdles its players have overcome, but by all they are capable of achieving.'

The Lxme IWL 2026–27 season is set to commence on November 13, featuring eight clubs competing for the prestigious title, providing a stage for some of India's top women footballers to shine.
