Bhuvneshwar Kumar made history by being included in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) lineup for a crucial Indian Premier League (IPL) match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on May 7. The seasoned pacer has played a pivotal role in the defending champions' impressive season, and this match presents an opportunity for them to secure a higher position in the standings. This game marks Bhuvneshwar's 200th appearance in the IPL, where he stands as the second-highest wicket-taker overall and leads among fast bowlers with 215 wickets to date. He began his IPL journey with Pune Warriors India (PWI) in 2011, continued with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) until 2024, and joined RCB in 2025.

By reaching this milestone, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has become the first specialist fast bowler or pace-bowling all-rounder to participate in 200 IPL matches. He is the 12th player overall to achieve this milestone, with all of them hailing from India. Jasprit Bumrah ranks second among specialist fast bowlers, while Kieron Pollard is the second among all-rounders who bowl medium pace.
