BCCI Vice-President Honors Nana Patekar Following His Passing
Tribute to a Legendary Actor
New Delhi, October 8: Rajeev Shukla, the Vice-President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), expressed his condolences for the late Nana Patekar, who passed away on Thursday. Shukla remembered Patekar as a deeply compassionate individual.
Nana Patekar succumbed to a cardiac arrest at his home at 5:20 am, as confirmed by Dr. Shekhar Salkar, the Chief of Oncology at Manipal Hospital. Dr. Salkar noted that CPR was performed for 45 minutes, but Patekar remained in asystole during the entire procedure.
In a post on X, Shukla conveyed his sorrow over Patekar's death, highlighting his exceptional acting skills, versatility, and impactful screen presence, along with his dedication to social causes and his transformative efforts in the community.
Shukla stated, “I am deeply saddened by the loss of veteran actor and a truly compassionate person, Shri Nana Patekar Ji. His extraordinary talent, versatility, and commanding presence have left a lasting impression on Indian cinema. Beyond his film career, his altruistic dedication to social service and his initiatives to improve lives have inspired many. May his soul find eternal peace. My sincere condolences to his family, friends, and numerous fans.”
Nana Patekar was a celebrated figure in both Hindi and Marathi cinema, making his acting debut in the 1978 film 'Gaman.' He gained acclaim for his roles in notable films such as 'Parinda,' 'Prahar,' 'Angaar,' 'Krantiveer,' 'Tiranga,' 'Khamoshi,' and 'Ab Tak Chhappan.'
In recent years, Patekar remained active in the film industry, featuring in 'Housefull 5' alongside stars like Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Bachchan. He also portrayed a police officer in Vishal Bhardwaj's 'O'Romeo,' which starred Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, and made a cameo in 'Subedar,' featuring Anil Kapoor and Radhika Madan.
