BCCI AGM Concludes with Key Decisions

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], September 18: Rajeev Shukla, the Vice-President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), announced on Friday that the board has received the necessary authorization for appointing a chief selector, although a final decision will be made at a later date.

After the 95th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai, Shukla addressed the media, revealing that the agenda included the confirmation of Arun Singh Dhumal and M Khairul Jamal Majumdar's positions within the Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council.

“We have secured authorization regarding the selector. A decision will be made later,” he stated.

Ajit Agarkar, who was appointed as the chairman of the men's senior selection committee in July 2023, is set to see his contract expire next month.

Shukla confirmed that both Dhumal and Majumdar will continue in their roles within the IPL Governing Council.

“The meeting was productive; all matters were finalized. The same individuals, including Dhumal and Majumdar, will remain in the IPL Governing Council,” he mentioned to reporters outside the BCCI headquarters.

Additionally, the AGM granted associate membership to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Cricket Association.

“Authorization has been secured for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Cricket Association's associate membership. These were the primary topics discussed; nothing else significant arose,” Shukla added.

Among the key outcomes from the meeting, the General Body approved the audited financial statements for the 2025-26 fiscal year, sanctioned the annual budget for 2026-27, and appointed auditors for the upcoming financial period.

The General Body also unanimously agreed to celebrate the 20th edition of the IPL in 2027 with grandeur.

Looking ahead, the BCCI has begun preparations for its centenary celebrations in 2028, which will kick off in December 2027 and continue throughout 2028, commemorating 100 years of the governing body of Indian cricket.

The AGM also endorsed an improved payment structure and reclassification of grades for umpires and match referees. Furthermore, a new Internal Committee was established under the BCCI's Prevention of Sexual Harassment Policy, along with an updated Age Verification Policy.

Discussions were held with state associations regarding initiatives to assist differently-abled cricketers, focusing on providing necessary facilities and resources to foster their growth.

Notable officials present at the AGM included BCCI president Mithun Manhas, vice-president Rajeev Shukla, secretary Devajit Saikia, Bengal Cricket Association president Sourav Ganguly, and Jharkhand State Cricket Association secretary Saurabh Tiwary.
