Bangladesh Cricket Board Reveals Test Series Dates

Dhaka [Bangladesh], September 9: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially released the schedule for the upcoming two-Test series against the West Indies, with the first match commencing on October 28, as reported by the ICC.


The series will kick off in Mirpur on October 28, forming part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle. The second Test is slated to take place in Sylhet, starting on November 5. Currently, Bangladesh holds the fourth position in the WTC standings after drawing their recent two-match series in Australia.


Throughout the current WTC cycle, Bangladesh has participated in six Tests, achieving three victories, facing two losses, and recording one draw. Their journey has also included a 1-0 series defeat against Sri Lanka last year and a successful 2-0 home series against Pakistan.


In contrast, the West Indies find themselves in eighth place out of nine in the WTC standings, just above Pakistan. Their latest series concluded with a 1-1 draw against Pakistan.


Having played 12 Tests so far, the West Indies have secured only two wins, while suffering eight defeats and two draws. They faced a challenging start to the cycle, with five consecutive losses, including a 3-0 home series defeat against Australia and a 2-0 loss away to India.


It wasn't until their fourth Test that the West Indies celebrated their first victory in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle, achieving a 1-0 series win against Sri Lanka at home.


Before facing Bangladesh, the West Indies will engage in a three-day warm-up match starting on October 22.
