Concerns Raised Over Aliss Al Islam's Bowling Action

New Delhi, October 22: Aliss Al Islam, the off-spinner from Bangladesh, has been flagged for a potential illegal bowling action following his ODI tri-series match against Afghanistan on October 21 in Sharjah.

Making his ODI debut, Aliss bowled 8.3 overs and gave away 47 runs. Earlier this month, he also earned his first T20I cap during a match against Sri Lanka at the Asian Games, as reported by the ICC.

Match officials expressed concerns regarding the legality of Aliss's bowling action after Bangladesh's loss to Afghanistan. He is now set to undergo an independent evaluation at an ICC-accredited facility, in line with the ICC's regulations on illegal bowling actions.

Bangladesh's performance in the tri-series has been disappointing, with losses to both Zimbabwe and Afghanistan. The final match is scheduled for October 23 between these two teams.

According to regulations, bowlers are allowed an elbow extension of up to 15 degrees while delivering the ball. Aliss can continue to bowl in international matches until the results of his assessment are available.

This isn't the first instance of Aliss being reported for a suspected illegal bowling action. In 2019, he faced scrutiny after achieving a hat-trick during his T20 debut in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

He successfully passed a domestic bowling assessment conducted by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in October of that year. Aliss was reported again during last year's BPL but cleared another bowling action test by the BCB.
