Bangladesh's Squad for the Upcoming Test Series

Dhaka [Bangladesh], July 27: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has revealed a 15-member team for the first Test match in the two-match series against Australia.

Najmul Hossain Shanto will captain Bangladesh in their inaugural Test series against Australia since 2003. This series is particularly important as it contributes to the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 points, enhancing its significance, according to the ICC.

Australia, the reigning champions from 2023, have assembled a formidable squad for the series.

Among the players, Soumya Sarkar makes a return to the Test side after last playing in 2021, bringing with him the experience of 16 Test matches.

In addition to captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Sarkar, the batting lineup is strengthened by experienced players like Mushfiqur Rahim, Mominul Haque, and Shadman Islam.

Due to injury challenges, the pace attack will be led by Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Khaled Ahmed, and Ebadot Hossain. Uncapped pacer Musfik Hasan has also been included, adding further depth to the bowling options.

The spin department will be led by the seasoned duo of Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam, who are expected to play crucial roles in the bowling strategy.

Currently, Australia sits at the top of the WTC standings with a point percentage of 87.5, while Bangladesh ranks fourth with a point percentage of 58.33.
