Australia Secures 41-Run Win Against Pakistan
Lahore [Pakistan], June 2: Australia triumphed over Pakistan by 41 runs in a tightly contested match, highlighted by impressive half-centuries from Josh Inglis and Cameron Green, along with a remarkable four-wicket haul from Nathan Ellis.
This victory has brought the three-match series to a 1-1 tie.
After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to field first. The Australian batting lineup faced early challenges, with spinners Arafat Minhas and Abrar Ahmed effectively reducing the team to 51/3 within just 10.4 overs, dismissing Alex Carey (0), Matt Short (15), and Marnus Labuschagne (5).
Inglis formed a crucial partnership with Green, contributing to a half-century before Arafat bowled him out for 51 runs off 74 balls, which included five boundaries. Green continued to build momentum, adding 65 runs alongside Matt Renshaw, who scored 43 runs off 43 balls, featuring three fours. Green ultimately reached his half-century, scoring 51 runs off 92 balls, with one four and two sixes.
In the latter stages, Oliver Peake added valuable runs, finishing with 31 runs off 32 balls, helping Australia set a total of 231/9.
Pakistan's bowling attack saw Shaheen Shah Afridi take 3 wickets for 36 runs, while Arafat, Abrar, and Haris Rauf claimed two wickets each.
In their chase, Pakistan struggled significantly, collapsing to 78/6 due to the effective spin bowling from Matt Kuhnemann, Short, and Adam Zampa. Minhas (33 runs off 43 balls) and Shadab Khan managed to stabilize the innings with a 59-run partnership for the seventh wicket. Shadab scored 71 runs off 104 balls, hitting four fours and three sixes, but was the last wicket to fall as Pakistan was bowled out for 190 in 44 overs.
Nathan Ellis emerged as the standout bowler for Australia, taking 4 wickets for 33 runs, while Short contributed with 3 wickets for 36 runs. Zampa, Kuhnemann, and Tanveer Sangha each took one wicket.
