In Asan city on August 6, India's Anmol Kharb faced a tough challenge in the pre-quarterfinals of the Korea Masters, ultimately losing to Vietnam's Olympian Vu Thi Trang. The match concluded with scores of 23-21, 15-21, and 21-18.
Anmol started strong in the first game but missed four game points, allowing Vu to seize the lead. In the second game, Anmol bounced back, leveraging an 11-9 lead at the interval to push the match to a deciding game.
During the final game, Anmol fell behind 19-9 but rallied with eight consecutive points. Unfortunately, it was not enough, and Vu Thi Trang secured her place in the next round.
On a brighter note, Tanvi Sharma, fresh off her victory at the Taipei Open, continued her winning streak by defeating fellow Indian player Shriyanshi Valishetty with scores of 21-16, 17-21, and 21-13.
Tanvi initially trailed 11-7 in the first game but regained control to win. Shriyanshi fought back in the second game, taking an 11-6 lead before winning it to force a third game.
In the deciding game, Tanvi took charge early, leading 11-9 at the interval and ultimately winning decisively in 57 minutes.
Additionally, Ashmita Chaliha and Rakshitha Ramraj also progressed to the women's singles quarter-finals. Ashmita triumphed over local favorite Kim Min-ji with a score of 21-17, 21-6, while Rakshitha defeated Japan's Manami Suizu 22-20, 21-10. However, fifth seed Isharani Baruah and Mansi Singh were eliminated from the tournament.
Isharani lost a close match to Kim Min-sun of Korea with scores of 17-21, 21-18, 21-19, while Mansi faced a defeat against fourth seed Han Qianxi of China, ending with scores of 21-12, 14-21, 21-17.
