In a thrilling encounter at the PCA Stadium in Mohali, the Amritsar Soormas showcased a remarkable all-round performance, securing their first win in the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League by defeating the Fazilka Falcons by seven wickets. The Soormas successfully chased down a target of 183 runs with 15 balls remaining.
After winning the toss, the Soormas chose to bowl first. The Fazilka openers set a rapid pace, with Vihaan Malhotra leading the charge, scoring 60 runs off just 34 balls, which included eight boundaries and two sixes.
Captain Sanvir Singh contributed significantly, adding 63 runs from 35 balls, hitting eight fours and three sixes. Their partnership laid a solid foundation for the Falcons, but the Soormas mounted a comeback in the later overs.
Akash Pandey emerged as a key bowler for Amritsar, taking 2 wickets for 27 runs in his four overs. Adhiraj Singh Mangat and Sahil Khan also made notable contributions with two wickets each. The Soormas' innings began on a shaky note, losing early wickets despite scoring quickly.
After the dismissal of Rahul Kumar left the team at 39 for 3, Naman Dhir and Abhay Choudhary took charge of the chase. Dhir played a stellar innings, remaining unbeaten with 88 runs off 48 balls, while Choudhary supported him with an impressive 58 runs off 35 balls. Together, they forged an unbroken partnership of 147 runs, leading the Soormas to a comfortable victory at 186 for 3 in just 17.3 overs.
With this win, the Soormas aim to carry their momentum forward as they prepare to face the Bathinda Royals on Friday.
