Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 8: Former Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane expressed his sorrow over the passing of veteran actor Nana Patekar, who died on Thursday. Rahane remembered Patekar as a "truly remarkable actor" whose performances inspired and entertained countless individuals.
Nana Patekar passed away at 5:20 am on Thursday due to a cardiac arrest at his home. Dr. Shekhar Salkar, the Chief of the Department of Oncology at Manipal Hospital, confirmed that CPR was administered for 45 minutes, but Patekar remained in asystole throughout the procedure.
In a post on X, Rahane shared his condolences, stating, "Nana Patekar ji was a truly remarkable actor whose work has inspired and entertained generations. Very sad to hear about his passing. May his soul rest in peace."
Shikhar Dhawan also honored Patekar earlier in the day, referring to him as a unique talent whose legacy will continue to motivate future generations. Dhawan wrote, "Indian cinema has lost a truly special talent today. Nana Patekar saab, your work will continue to inspire generations. Om Shanti."
Patekar was a celebrated figure in both Hindi and Marathi cinema, making his debut in the 1978 film 'Gaman.' He gained acclaim for his roles in notable films such as 'Parinda,' 'Prahar,' 'Angaar,' 'Krantiveer,' 'Tiranga,' 'Khamoshi,' and 'Ab Tak Chhappan.'
In recent years, Patekar remained active in the film industry, featuring in 'Housefull 5' alongside stars like Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Bachchan. He also portrayed a police officer in Vishal Bhardwaj's 'O'Romeo,' which starred Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, and made a cameo in 'Subedar,' featuring Anil Kapoor and Radhika Madan.
