Abhishek Sharma Sets IPL Record with Fastest Centuries

Sharma achieved this milestone by hitting a six off Nitish Rana on the second ball of the 15th over.

Currently, the record for the fastest century by an Indian batter in the IPL is held by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who scored a century in just 35 balls for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans on April 28, 2025. In the recent match, Abhishek Sharma, ranked as the world’s top T20I batter, finished with an impressive 135 runs off 68 balls, including ten fours and ten sixes.
His second IPL century came off just 47 balls, making him the first Indian player to hit ten sixes in an innings on two occasions. Previously, he achieved this feat against Punjab Kings in 2025, scoring 141 runs off 55 balls. Abhishek is now the second player, after the legendary Chris Gayle, to hit ten sixes in an IPL innings, with Gayle achieving this milestone four times.
Most Sixes in T20 Innings
1. Chris Gayle: 18
2. Abhishek Sharma: 5
3. Evin Lewis & Shreyas Iyer: 4
Sharma's performance against Delhi Capitals showcased his dominance, as he formed a strong partnership with Ishan Kishan, adding 79 runs after an opening stand of 97 runs with Travis Head. Despite the challenges posed by Nitish Rana and Lungi Ngidi, Abhishek's strategic hitting, particularly against Ngidi, was a highlight, leading Sunrisers Hyderabad to a formidable total.
