During a thrilling match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Abhishek Sharma made headlines by scoring his second century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against Delhi Capitals (DC). The 25-year-old achieved this remarkable feat in just 47 balls, marking his third fifty-plus score in the tournament. Abhishek's impressive innings of 135 runs came off 68 deliveries, featuring 10 fours and an equal number of sixes, resulting in a striking rate of 198.53. His performance helped SRH set a formidable total of 242 runs, with the team losing only two wickets.

With this century, Abhishek has now recorded a total of nine T20 centuries in his career, which includes two for SRH in the IPL and two for the Indian national team. Additionally, he has achieved five centuries while representing Punjab in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT). His tally of nine T20 centuries ties him with Virat Kohli for the most by an Indian cricketer, surpassing former captain Rohit Sharma.

Furthermore, Abhishek's nine centuries rank him joint fourth in T20 cricket history globally, alongside Quinton de Kock and Virat Kohli. Only David Warner (10), Babar Azam (12), and Chris Gayle (22) have more centuries than him.
In addition to his century, Abhishek became the first Indian player to hit over 10 sixes in an IPL innings on two occasions, a feat only matched by Chris Gayle (4) in the league's history. This match marked the fifth time he has hit 10 or more sixes in a T20 innings, the highest by any Indian, surpassing Shreyas Iyer's previous record of four. Globally, only Gayle has achieved this milestone more frequently.
Abhishek's score also set a new record for the highest individual score by an Indian in the first innings of an IPL match, breaking KL Rahul's previous record of 132 runs against RCB in 2020. Notably, his 141 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in 2025 remains the only instance of an Indian scoring more runs in an innings than this.
