2026 Women's Premier League to Feature Weekday Final and Exciting Schedule
2026 Women's Premier League Schedule Unveiled
The 2026 Women's Premier League (WPL) is set to break from its usual format, with the final taking place on a Thursday, February 5, rather than the traditional weekend slot. The tournament kicks off on January 9 and will include two double-header matches, both scheduled for Saturdays, according to reports from a sports media outlet.
Spanning 28 days, the league will be hosted at two locations: Navi Mumbai, where the Indian women's team recently triumphed in the ODI World Cup against South Africa, and Vadodara. The first 11 matches, including the double-headers, will occur at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, while the remaining fixtures, including the eliminator on February 3 and the final, will take place at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.
WPL chairman Jayesh George announced the schedule on Thursday, coinciding with the players' auction. Most matches, except for the early games on double-header days, will be played under floodlights.
The final week promises to be thrilling for cricket fans, as the men's Under-19 World Cup will conclude just a day after the WPL final on February 6, followed by the start of the men's T20 World Cup on February 7.
This season marks a significant change, as it will be the first time the WPL is held in January-February, with previous editions taking place in February-March, right before the Indian Premier League (IPL). Notably, this season will not overlap with any major international matches.
The Mumbai Indians (MI), the reigning champions, have secured two titles in the first three seasons, while the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are the only other team to have won the trophy. The Delhi Capitals (DC) have been runners-up in all three editions, while the Gujarat Giants (GG) and UP Warriorz (UPW) are still seeking their first final appearance.
Following the conclusion of the WPL, the Indian women's team will embark on a comprehensive tour of Australia, which includes three T20 matches, three ODIs, and a Test match scheduled from February 15 to March 9.
