Transportation Issues for LNIPE Gwalior Women's Basketball Team

The women's basketball team from the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) in Gwalior has expressed dissatisfaction regarding transportation arrangements during the Khelo India University Games 2025. They reported that insufficient communication led them to organize their own travel just before an important match.

Ankita, a player on the team, shared her experience: "We had a match scheduled for 11:30 AM, and we waited for the bus until 11 AM, but it never showed up. Consequently, we had to hire an auto-rickshaw, which made us arrive late for the game."

Team Officials Address Transportation Failures

Dilip, the team's coach, voiced similar concerns, stating that such transportation failures can negatively impact the players' focus. He remarked, "These issues should not occur, especially with our match set for 11:30 AM. Such lapses can disturb the team's mental preparation."

Deepshikha, the team physiotherapist, explained that the vehicle assigned to them failed to arrive on time. "Our designated transport was supposed to be at the hotel by 10 AM, but it left 10 minutes early without any notification. We only learned of this when we contacted the driver. As a result, we had to arrange for auto-rickshaws since our match was imminent. We even video-called the Local Organizing Committee to confirm our situation while in the autos," she added.

Minister's Assurance on Transport Arrangements

In response to the complaints, Rajasthan Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore assured that the event is being managed to international standards and that transportation is functioning as planned. He stated, "This is an event of international caliber taking place in Rajasthan. I have already informed that vehicles are available for each team, but they operate on a set schedule. If any players wish to leave early, we have taxis arranged for them. There is nothing inappropriate about using a taxi for travel," he explained.
