Athletics: Parul Choudhary's Performance

In the women's 3000m steeplechase final at the Commonwealth Games 2026, Indian distance runner Parul Choudhary secured a fifth-place finish. The race, held on Day 7, was dominated by Kenya's Faith Cherotich, who set a new Games Record. Parul started strong but lost pace with the leading group as the race progressed. Ultimately, she finished approximately 25 seconds behind the winner, as reported by ESPN. The contest for the silver medal was thrilling, with England's Elise Thorner overtaking Kenya's Peruth Cherotich in the final 200 meters to claim second place, while Cherotich took home the bronze.

Lawn Bowls: Nayanmoni Saikia's Comeback

In lawn bowls, Nayanmoni Saikia rebounded from an initial group-stage loss to achieve a vital 2-0 victory against Caroline Whitehead from the Isle of Man in the women's singles sectional play. After winning the first set, Saikia fell behind in the second but rallied to finish strong, winning the set 7-4. This victory was crucial for her chances of advancing to the semifinals, as only the group winner progresses to the knockout stage.


Para-athletics Results

In the para-athletics events, Sagar Thayat and Devender Kumar placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the men's discus throw F42-44/F61-64 final. Sagar achieved a season-best throw of 51.79 meters, earning him sixth place, while Devender's best throw of 48.20 meters secured him seventh after six rounds.
