New Delhi [India] - On June 21, Chennaiyin FC (CFC) officially announced the exit of Connor Shields from the club.


Shields joined the Marina Machans in 2023 and made a notable impact during his debut season, contributing to five goals across 21 matches, according to the ISL press release.


His versatility added a valuable dimension to CFC's gameplay, as he was utilized in multiple positions within the midfield and forward lines. Shields demonstrated remarkable adaptability and a deep understanding of the sport.


His knack for creating scoring opportunities and contributing to goals significantly enhanced Chennaiyin FC's attacking prowess. Under coach Owen Coyle, the team reached the playoffs in the 2023-24 season and improved their goal tally in the subsequent season, despite finishing in 11th place.


Throughout the 2024-25 season, the Scottish midfielder was a key player for the Marina Machans, participating in 21 matches and emerging as a prolific chance creator with an impressive total of 76 chances created.


Shields also registered eight assists, the highest in the 2024-25 season, alongside completing 358 successful passes and executing 21 successful dribbles. Defensively, he was instrumental, winning 84 duels and achieving 107 recoveries.
