Chennai Super Kings Set Competitive Target Against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2026
CSK Posts Strong Total of 187/5
In their IPL 2026 match held in Lucknow, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) managed to score a formidable total of 187 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. This achievement was largely thanks to a remarkable 71-run performance from Kartik Sharma, complemented by a late surge from Shivam Dube.
Akash Singh Disrupts CSK's Top Order
CSK began their innings with openers Sanju Samson and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who provided a solid start, reaching 20 runs without losing a wicket in the first two overs. However, the game took a turn in the fourth over when LSG's Akash Singh dismissed Gaikwad for 13 runs.
Continuing his impressive performance, Akash struck again in the sixth over, sending Samson back to the pavilion for 20 runs, leaving CSK at 37/2 after six overs. The pressure mounted as Akash claimed his third wicket, removing Urvil Patel for just six runs in the eighth over, putting CSK in a precarious position at 61/3.
By the end of the tenth over, CSK had managed to score only 71 runs for the loss of three wickets, struggling to capitalize on their initial momentum.
Kartik Sharma's Resilient Performance
Following the early setbacks, Kartik Sharma and Dewald Brevis worked to stabilize CSK's innings, guiding the team to 108/3 in 13 overs.
Kartik reached his half-century off 35 balls during the second delivery of the 15th over, marking his second fifty of the season. However, the tide turned again as Mohammed Shami dismissed Brevis for 25 runs in the same over.
On the last ball of the 16th over, Shahbaz Ahmed took a crucial wicket, sending Kartik Sharma back after a well-fought 71 runs, leaving CSK at 142/5.
Dube's Late-Game Surge
In the closing stages of the innings, Shivam Dube contributed a quickfire 32 runs off 16 balls, while Prashant Veer added an unbeaten 13 runs, helping CSK finish their innings at 187/5 after 20 overs.
For LSG, Akash Singh was the standout bowler with figures of 3 wickets for 26 runs, supported by Shami and Shahbaz, who took one wicket each.
