Charity Tournament 'Paddles for a Purpose' to Support Family Services in Palm Beach County
Paddles for a Purpose: A Charity Event for Community Support
This month, the Centre for Family Services of Palm Beach County is set to host a charity pickleball tournament named "Paddles for a Purpose." The event aims to raise funds for behavioral health services and family support programs. Scheduled for June 26 at Replay in Boynton Beach, it promises a day filled with competition and community engagement.
The Palm Beach Royals will be hosting the tournament, with Copperpoint Brewing Co. serving as the exclusive beverage sponsor. Numerous local businesses, including Razorback Electric, Kipu Health, Jade Dental, Smash House Burgers, PuraVida Chiropractic and Wellness, and Applied Nutrition, are also contributing to this initiative.
Every dollar collected from registrations, spectator tickets, and event activities will directly support the Center for Family Services of Palm Beach County and its community programs. Todd L'Herrou, CEO of the Center, stated, "We developed 'Paddles for a Purpose' because pickleball is inherently about community, connection, and physical activity, all of which are pillars of good mental health."
This event is part of a growing trend in the pickleball community, where tournaments increasingly support charitable causes while attracting new players to the sport. Registration options include individual entries, doubles, and league packages. Spectator passes will provide food, tournament access, two adult beverage tickets, and entry into various prize drawings throughout the day.
Established in 1961, the Center for Family Services of Palm Beach County offers a variety of support services for children, families, and individuals in the area. The organization has a long-standing commitment to strengthening family ties through social service programs and community outreach.
Organizers believe that the tournament's mission aligns perfectly with pickleball's reputation as one of the most social sports in the nation. L'Herrou emphasized, "Pickleball is inherently about community, connection, and physical activity, all of which are pillars of good mental health." With backing from the Palm Beach Royals and local businesses, they hope the event will create a memorable day on the court while providing meaningful support for families in Palm Beach County.
The tournament will kick off with registration at 9 a.m., followed by gameplay starting at 10 a.m. at Replay in Boynton Beach.
