Chandigarh University Triumphs at Khelo India University Games 2025

Chandigarh University has emerged victorious at the Khelo India University Games 2025, successfully defending their championship title with a remarkable total of 67 medals, including 42 gold. The event, which took place over 12 days in Rajasthan, featured intense competition among 4,448 athletes from 222 universities. Notable performances included Olympian Srihari Nataraj, who was the standout athlete, contributing significantly to Jain University's medal tally. Chandigarh University Clinches Championship Title

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], December 5: Chandigarh University showcased an outstanding performance in Canoe and Kayaking, along with impressive results in athletics and swimming, to successfully retain their overall championship title at the Khelo India University Games 2025, which concluded on Friday after a thrilling 12-day event.


The university concluded the games with an impressive haul of 67 medals, comprising 42 gold, 14 silver, and 11 bronze. They dominated Canoe and Kayaking, winning 23 out of the 30 gold medals available, in addition to securing six golds in swimming, five in athletics, and other medals in wrestling, weightlifting, shooting, cycling, archery, table tennis, and kabaddi, as reported by SAI Media.


Lovely Professional University (LPU) finished as the runner-up, amassing a total of 78 medals, which included 32 gold, 25 silver, and 22 bronze. Guru Nanak Dev University also achieved 32 gold medals but fell short with 22 silver and 18 bronze, placing them in third position.


The fifth edition of the KIUG 2025 took place across seven cities in Rajasthan, featuring a remarkable 4,448 athletes from 222 universities competing in 23 medal events. The games were organized under the auspices of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in partnership with the Rajasthan State Sports Council and hosted by Poornima University.


Throughout the event, 12 new meet records were established in athletics, including two All India University records, highlighting the exceptional level of competition.


Srihari Nataraj, an Olympian and India's leading swimmer, emerged as the standout athlete of KIUG 2025, securing nine gold and two silver medals, which contributed to Jain University's total of 27 golds, nine silvers, and nine bronzes, placing them fourth overall.


On the final day, with 28 gold medals up for grabs, including 24 in boxing, the competition for the second place intensified between Lovely Professional University and Guru Nanak Dev University. Ultimately, LPU triumphed, clinching two golds in boxing and one in kabaddi.


Guru Kashi University excelled in the boxing events at Bharatpur's Lohagarh Indoor Stadium, finishing with four gold, three silver, and five bronze medals, which propelled them to fifth place in the overall standings.
