Chambal Ghariyals Clinch MPL T20 Scindia Cup 2026 Title with Unbeaten Run
Chambal Ghariyals Celebrate Victory
The Chambal Ghariyals concluded an impressive campaign in the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) T20 Scindia Cup 2026 by defeating the Royal Nimar Eagles by 31 runs in the final held at Holkar Stadium, Indore. This victory marked a remarkable achievement for the franchise, as their women's team had previously secured the title without losing a match.
Ghariyals Set a Challenging Target
Batting first, the Chambal Ghariyals capitalized on their opportunity, scoring a formidable 224 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs.
The opening pair of Harsh Dixit and Ankush Singh got off to a quick start, adding 35 runs in just 3.4 overs before Dixit was dismissed for 32 runs off 18 balls. Ankush followed shortly after, scoring 12 runs off 9 balls, leaving the team at 45 for 2.
At a crucial juncture, Apurve Dwivedi joined captain Shubham Sharma, and together they built a significant partnership of 83 runs for the third wicket. Dwivedi was particularly aggressive, scoring 51 runs off 25 balls, including five sixes, before his dismissal.
Sharma continued to stabilize the innings, receiving solid support from Tripuresh Singh. The duo added another 47 runs before Sharma was out for a well-played 57 runs off 38 balls.
Tripuresh ensured a strong finish, aided by Rohit Gupta, who contributed 17 runs off just 7 balls. Tripuresh ended the innings unbeaten on 43 runs from 24 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes, leading the Ghariyals to a total of 224/5.
The match also featured an exciting mid-innings entertainment segment that added to the festive atmosphere at the stadium.
Eagles' Chase Comes Up Short
In pursuit of 225 runs, the Royal Nimar Eagles started aggressively, with Dharmesh Patel and Himanshu Mantri scoring 21 runs in the first over, including three sixes off Avesh Khan.
Mantri was given a second chance early on when Aman Bhadoriya dropped a simple return catch. However, Chambal struck back quickly, with Tripuresh Singh dismissing Dharmesh Patel for 17 runs off 8 balls.
Mantri then formed a 35-run partnership with Kanishk Dubey, but Dubey was soon out for 21 runs off just 10 balls, bowled by Bhadoriya.
The Eagles struggled to maintain their momentum, losing wickets consistently and falling behind the required run rate. Abhishek Mavi fought valiantly, scoring an unbeaten 73 runs off 39 balls, but lacked support from his teammates as Chambal maintained their grip on the match.
Mayur Patel was the standout bowler for the Ghariyals, achieving impressive figures of 2 wickets for 21 runs in his four overs, as the Eagles finished their innings at 193/7.
Captain's Reflections on the Victory
Captain Shubham Sharma expressed his pride in the team's achievement, stating, "Winning the title is even more meaningful after witnessing our women's team achieve the same earlier in the tournament. Their success inspired us and boosted our confidence. Our consistency throughout the competition was our greatest strength, with different players stepping up when needed. This collective effort made a significant impact. It's a proud moment for the entire team."
