Toronto, Canada - June 22: Canada has officially earned its place in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, as confirmed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on their official platform.

The team, which hosted the Americas Qualifiers, solidified their position in the tournament after achieving a victory against the Bahamas, marking their fifth consecutive win in the ongoing qualifiers.

In a dominant performance, Kaleem Sana and Shivam Sharma each took three wickets, helping to dismiss the Bahamas for a mere 57 runs. Canada completed their chase in just 5.3 overs, with Dilpreet Bajwa scoring an impressive 36 runs off just 14 balls, securing a decisive victory and qualification.

Having participated in last year’s Men’s T20 World Cup held in the USA and the Caribbean, Canada entered the qualifiers as one of the frontrunners.

Under the leadership of Nicholas Kirton, the team began their campaign with a commanding 110-run victory over Bermuda, followed by a 59-run win against the Cayman Islands and a 10-wicket triumph over the Bahamas in their initial matchups.

In their second match against the Cayman Islands, which was shortened to five overs per side, Canada again showcased their strength, scoring 82 runs and winning by 42 runs.

With this qualification, Canada joins a roster of 10 teams already confirmed for the 20-team event, alongside co-hosts India and Sri Lanka. Other teams that have qualified include Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the United States, West Indies, Ireland, New Zealand, and Pakistan.
