Bryan Mbeumo Discusses His Move to Manchester United and Future Aspirations
Mbeumo's Exciting Transition to Manchester United
In a recent interview, Bryan Mbeumo shared insights about his transfer to Manchester United, emphasizing that head coach Ruben Amorim's vision for the club was a significant factor in his decision.
During the current summer transfer window, Mbeumo became Amorim's second notable acquisition after Matheus Cunha, making the switch from Brentford for a substantial fee. While securing Cunha was relatively straightforward, Mbeumo's signing involved extensive negotiations.
Ultimately, the Red Devils overcame competition from Tottenham and Newcastle to finalize Mbeumo's transfer. The Cameroon international opted to forgo a chance to compete in the Champions League, prioritizing the opportunity to work under Amorim.
“I had discussions with various managers to understand their plans, but Manchester United's project resonated with me the most. It's a prestigious club, and I see this as a fantastic opportunity. I thrive on challenges, and I wanted to be part of the promising project in Manchester,” Mbeumo stated, as reported by ESPN.
He further elaborated on his conversation with Amorim, describing it as friendly and productive. Amorim outlined his ambitions for the team, stating, 'We are committed to winning and aim to be the best,' which Mbeumo found inspiring.
Mbeumo has joined Manchester United just in time for their preseason tour in America, eagerly anticipating his debut. He may have to wait until the friendly match against Fiorentina at Old Trafford, scheduled just a week before the Premier League season begins.
While in America, the 25-year-old is taking the opportunity to bond with his new teammates, even seeking a chess partner among them.
“I’ve heard that Josh [Zirkzee] plays chess, so I might challenge him to a game. Playing online is different; you use a nickname and compete against random players. I prefer using my physical chess board for a more personal touch. Chess requires strategic thinking, much like football. I’ve dedicated time to improving my skills through videos and apps, which I believe is beneficial for mental agility,” he added.
