Introduction to the Broadway Paddle Club

A novel pickleball league is set to debut in New York City, merging the excitement of sports with the flair of theatrical performance. The Broadway Paddle Club is gearing up to host a weekly series of matches that promises to showcase both athletic skill and vibrant personalities. This league, which unites members of the Broadway community, will kick off next month at CityPickle, a newly established pickleball venue situated in the bustling Times Square.

Designed to serve as both a competitive arena and a social hub, this initiative aims to foster connections among performers and theatre professionals beyond their usual stage interactions.

Details of the Inaugural Season

The inaugural season of the Broadway Paddle Club is scheduled to take place every Monday for five weeks, wrapping up on April 20. Organizers have hinted that additional information regarding future seasons, special events, and sponsorship opportunities will be announced soon, indicating that this could be the start of a larger, ongoing project.

At its essence, the league transcends mere competition. Greg Nobile, CEO of Seaview and Commissioner of the Broadway Paddle Club, expressed that the concept emerged from a desire to cultivate community spirit during challenging times. He stated, “This is not just an intramural club; it’s a significant gathering point for our community. In a world that often feels chaotic, we aimed to create something that brings people together—six weeks of connection, competition, and, of course, pitchers of court-side Mango Margaritas. We are thrilled to welcome Broadway’s finest to the new CityPickle courts at 1501 Broadway for what promises to be an engaging, slightly overzealous, and incredibly enjoyable season.”

Organizational Structure of the League

The league’s structure reflects its unique blend of professionalism and enjoyment. Alongside Nobile, the leadership team features membership director Jenny Gersten, merchandise co-directors Bee Carrozzini, Carly Callahan, and Devyn Itula, as well as ‘co-directors of fun’ Doug Nevin and Oliver Roth. The administrative team is further complemented by sponsorship director John Johnson, communications director Alex Seeley, finance director Tracy Geltman, and memorabilia and awards director Nate Koch.
