Bengaluru Stallions Announce Their Team

The Bengaluru Stallions have revealed their four-member team in preparation for the second season of the Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL), which kicks off on September 23. The players representing the franchise this season are Trishul Chinnappa, Veer Ganapathy, Sunhit Bishnoi, and Sudhir Sharma. They were present at the event where the team's new jersey was also unveiled.

Upcoming Events

The inaugural matches will take place in Ras Al Khaimah, while the Bengaluru Stallions will host their home leg of the 2026 AM Green IGPL Invitational at the Karnataka Golf Association (KGA) from December 1 to December 5.

A Blend of Experience and Youth

The squad boasts a balanced combination of seasoned players and youthful talent. Trishul Chinnappa brings extensive experience from both domestic and international competitions. Veer Ganapathy, the son of renowned golfer and coach Rahul Ganapathy, was the top-ranked junior golfer in India until last year. Sunhit Bishnoi and Sudhir Sharma round out the competitive lineup, each contributing their unique skills to bolster the team's efforts.

Understanding the IGPL

The IGPL, or Indian Golf Premier League, is the first professional golf league in India based on a franchise model. It features ten teams from various cities competing in a full season comprising nine events. Each event consists of a 54-hole, three-day tournament, where the best two scores from each team's four players are counted towards the overall team score.

"We are akin to an RCB, but in the realm of golf," stated Trishul Chinnappa. "Traditionally, golf has been perceived as a sport for the elite, but that perception is evolving. India is changing, and so is the landscape of sports. We have dedicated our lives to honing our skills, and we all have stories to share through this platform," he added.

Chinnappa further commented on the team dynamic, saying, "Golf is typically an individual sport. We are accustomed to striving for personal success, but now we are focused on collective achievement. I am beginning to look out for my teammates, and this new perspective is becoming increasingly powerful."

Sunhit Bishnoi remarked, "Competing internationally can be quite costly. The IGPL provides juniors and amateurs with invaluable exposure. Competing in Morocco, for instance, presented windy conditions that are rare in India. This league is an excellent opportunity for emerging players to elevate their game. We will each play our best while supporting one another, and we hope to achieve success throughout the season."
