In a pivotal match for the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26, Bengaluru FC emerged victorious against FC Goa, winning 2-0 at the PJN Stadium in Goa on Saturday. This victory propelled Bengaluru FC to the fourth position in the league standings, accumulating 14 points, and placing them on equal footing with Mumbai City FC, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, and Jamshedpur FC. Conversely, FC Goa fell to seventh place with 10 points. Ryan Williams was named Player of the Match, as reported by the AIFF Media.
Chhetri Scores Early
Bengaluru FC started the match strongly, taking the lead within the first three minutes. A well-coordinated play between Braian Sanchez and Ashique Kuruniyan allowed Sunil Chhetri to find the ball, which he skillfully placed into the bottom-left corner with a right-footed shot, giving his team a 1-0 lead.
FC Goa responded with determination, as Sandesh Jhingan narrowly missed scoring with a header from a corner in the 14th minute. Brison Fernandes also tested Bengaluru's goalkeeper, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, with a long-range effort.
The closest FC Goa came to equalizing was in the 17th minute when Pol Moreno's header hit the post after a well-executed play down the left flank.
Bengaluru continued to threaten on counterattacks, with both Sanchez and Kuruniyan attempting shots from distance, but neither found the back of the net. FC Goa pressed forward, creating several chances through set pieces, yet they could not penetrate Bengaluru's solid defense.

The second half began with Bengaluru on the offensive, as Kuruniyan and Suresh Singh Wangjam challenged the Goa defense.
Despite pressure from both teams, clear scoring opportunities were scarce, with many attempts being blocked or going off target.
In a critical moment in the 86th minute, FC Goa nearly equalized when Moreno's diving header was expertly saved by Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, who made a vital stop to maintain Bengaluru's lead.
Bhutia Confirms Victory in Injury Time
Bengaluru FC secured their win in stoppage time. In the second minute of added time, substitute Namgyal Bhutia confidently scored from the right side of the box after receiving a pass from Lalremtluanga Fanai, extending the lead to 2-0.
FC Goa had a chance to reduce the deficit, but Mohammad Yasir's shot was easily saved by Sandhu in the dying moments of the match.
The final whistle confirmed Bengaluru FC's 2-0 victory, earning them three vital points and solidifying their position in the race for the top four.
