Ben Stokes Quits Alcohol for Full Recovery Ahead of India Test Series
Ben Stokes' Commitment to Recovery
Ahead of the Test series against India, England's Test captain Ben Stokes has become a topic of conversation due to a significant revelation. Stokes disclosed that he has completely abstained from alcohol to ensure he is fully fit for the upcoming matches. This announcement quickly gained traction on social media.
Stokes shared that he decided to stop drinking earlier this year, believing it would aid in his recovery from injuries. The 33-year-old underwent surgery on his left leg muscles in December after sustaining an injury during the third Test against New Zealand, which sidelined him for an extended period.
In a recent episode of an uncapped podcast, Stokes reflected on his first major injury, recalling the shock he felt and questioning whether his drinking habits from a few nights prior could have contributed to it. He realized that such habits were unhelpful and concluded that he needed to make changes.
Last year, Stokes suffered a muscle injury during The Hundred tournament and faced another setback during the New Zealand Test tour. He expressed doubt about ever fully escaping the impact of these injuries but confirmed that he has not consumed alcohol since January 2. He has committed to refraining from drinking until he completes his rehabilitation and returns to the field.
