BCCI's Response to Disciplinary Issues

Following a series of disciplinary infractions during the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has vowed to take decisive action against the franchises involved. Devajit Saikia, the board's secretary, made alarming revelations about unauthorized individuals accompanying players on team buses and visiting them in their accommodations. He stated that the governing body of Indian cricket is drafting an advisory, warning that any breaches of these guidelines will result in severe penalties in the future. Saikia also pointed out that team owners have been seen in restricted areas, which is against the established protocols.

“This season, we have identified numerous irregularities in the behavior of certain franchises and players. Therefore, BCCI and IPL are preparing an advisory that will be released this evening. We have observed a significant number of unauthorized individuals traveling with team members and visiting hotels and players' rooms, which violates our anti-corruption measures. Additionally, some team owners and officials have been interacting with players in prohibited areas. We take these violations very seriously and will enforce the advisory strictly. Any future infractions will lead to stringent actions from BCCI and IPL,” Saikia stated during a discussion with a media outlet.

Concerns Arising from Rajasthan Royals

RR's Breaches Cause Concern

This IPL season has been marred by several controversies involving the Rajasthan Royals (RR). Initially, the team's manager was caught on camera using a mobile phone in the dugout, breaching the Player and Match Official Arena (PMOA) regulations, resulting in a fine of ₹1 Lakh. Subsequently, the team's captain, Riyan Parag, was seen vaping in the dressing room, leading to a penalty of 25% of his match fees.
