BCCI Steps Up to Boost Cricket in Fiji and Maldives: What’s Next?
BCCI's Commitment to Global Cricket Development
New Delhi: During a recent Apex Council meeting, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced its plans to support the cricket boards of Fiji and the Maldives in enhancing the sport within their territories.
The BCCI aims to contribute by dispatching coaches and providing additional resources to bolster the International Cricket Council's initiatives aimed at promoting cricket in these developing nations.
A BCCI representative stated, “We will be sending some of our coaches and offering other forms of assistance.”
In 2019, the BCCI had previously sent Saba Karim, a former general manager of game development and ex-cricketer, along with Abhay Sharma, a former fielding coach for India, to the Maldives for a brief assessment of the cricketing landscape.
The Indian cricket board has also extended its support to other nations, including Afghanistan, which is now a full ICC member, and Nepal in earlier endeavors.
