BCCI Boosts Women's Cricket: Match Fees Set to Rise Significantly
BCCI Announces Increased Fees for Women's Domestic Matches
Mumbai: In a recent online meeting, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed plans to increase the match fees for women's domestic cricket. The new structure proposes that senior women players participating in 50-over and multi-day tournaments will earn Rs 50,000 per day, while reserve players will receive Rs 25,000.
For senior women's T20 matches, the updated fees will be Rs 25,000 for the playing XI and Rs 12,500 for reserves.
Moreover, the fees for domestic T20 matches have also seen an increase. Players in the playing XI will now earn Rs 25,000 per match day, while reserves will receive Rs 12,500.
The Apex Council has also decided to raise fees for junior cricket players. In ODI matches, reserves will earn Rs 12,500, while Under-23 and Under-19 players will receive Rs 25,000.
For T20 matches, the playing XI will earn Rs 12,500, with reserves getting Rs 6,250.
Match officials will also see a significant rise in their earnings, with umpires and referees set to benefit from the new fee structure. For league-stage matches, officials can expect to earn Rs 40,000 per day, with fees increasing to between Rs 50,000 and Rs 60,000 during knockout stages, depending on the match's significance.
This fee increase follows the Indian women's cricket team's victory in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, where they triumphed over South Africa in the final held in Navi Mumbai. This move reflects the growing recognition of women's cricket in India. With the Women's Premier League (WPL) generating substantial income for top players, it is an opportune moment to extend these benefits to domestic players, fostering new talent and enhancing grassroots development.
