Bangladesh Players Shine in ICC Test Rankings After Victory Over Pakistan

Bangladesh's recent 104-run victory over Pakistan in the first Test at Mirpur has resulted in notable advancements for several players in the ICC Men's Test Player Rankings. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto's stellar performance, including a century and a significant second innings score, has propelled him to a career-high ranking. Other players like Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque also saw improvements, while Pakistan's Mohammad Abbas made a comeback in the bowling charts. This match marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle for both teams.
 

Bangladesh Triumphs in First Test Against Pakistan

A remarkable victory against Pakistan in the opening Test at Mirpur has propelled several Bangladeshi players up the latest ICC Men's Test Player Rankings.


Bangladesh achieved a significant 104-run win over Pakistan, marking their inaugural victory in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto led the charge with an outstanding batting display, earning the Player of the Match accolade, according to the ICC.


Bangladesh Players Climb the Rankings

Shanto notched his ninth Test century in the first innings and followed it up with a crucial 87 in the second innings. His impressive performance resulted in a jump of 16 places in the Test batting rankings, reaching a career-high rating and tying for 23rd position.


Other Bangladeshi players also saw improvements in their rankings: Mushfiqur Rahim moved up two spots to 26th, while Mominul Haque climbed 12 places to 35th after solid performances against Pakistan. Additionally, two fast bowlers and a left-arm spinner made significant strides in the Test bowling rankings.


Taijul Islam took two wickets in each of Pakistan's innings, advancing three spots to 13th overall among Test bowlers. Meanwhile, seasoned seamer Taskin Ahmed re-entered the rankings at 48th after claiming four wickets in his first Test since late 2024.


Fast bowler Nahid Rana also made gains, improving five positions to 64th after his impactful five-wicket haul in the second innings of the Mirpur match.


Pakistan's Bright Spot

Pakistan found some solace as pace bowler Mohammad Abbas re-entered the bowling rankings at 28th following his five-wicket haul in the first innings.
