Bhatia's Remarkable Achievement at the Macao Open

On May 31, India's Armaan Bhatia showcased his exceptional skills at the Macao Open, a PPA Tour Asia 500 event, by securing two prestigious titles. As the top-ranked pickleball player in India, Bhatia, who joined the PPA in August 2025, first triumphed in the mixed doubles category before going on to win the men's doubles title. This double victory marks a significant achievement in Bhatia's burgeoning career on the international pickleball stage, as he continues to prove his mettle against some of Asia's finest athletes.

Bhatia's initial victory came in the mixed doubles, where he teamed up with Hong Kong's Kara Wheatley. The duo faced a tough challenge from Nok Yiu Tang and Eunggwon Kim, ultimately winning the match with scores of 13-11, 11-7. Later, Bhatia returned to compete in the men's doubles final, where he partnered with young Japanese talent Tama Shimabukuro. Together, they delivered a stellar performance, defeating Mitchell Hargreaves and Kenta Miyoshi with scores of 12-10, 11-5, thus securing Bhatia's second title of the day.

This success further cements Bhatia's reputation as a formidable competitor on the PPA Tour Asia circuit, where he has consistently excelled since turning professional.

Shimabukuro also had a noteworthy performance in Macao, clinching the men's singles title after defeating Hong Kit Wong in straight games, with scores of 11-9, 11-9. In the women's singles, Japan's Rika Fujiwara displayed dominance, winning against Vietnam's Ho Tam with a score of 11-4, 11-4, leaving little opportunity for her opponent.

Ho Tam, however, reached another final in the women's doubles category, where she and her partner Mihae Kwon faced off against the seasoned duo of Jamie Haas and Pei-Chuan. The experienced pair controlled the match from the beginning, winning decisively with scores of 11-6, 11-2 to claim the women's doubles title.
