Arjun Singh Reflects on His Recent Success


After achieving remarkable success in a recent tournament, Arjun Singh has expressed that the most significant outcome from facing international competitors is not just an improvement in his skills, but a heightened confidence in his abilities. In an interview with a sports outlet following his victories in the Pro Men's Singles and Pro Mixed Doubles events, the newly appointed captain of India's Under-18 Pickleball World Cup team shared insights about his recent experiences abroad, his strategies for managing pressure, and his aspirations for the upcoming World Cup.


Having recently faced some of the top players globally in the United States and Vietnam, Arjun noted that these experiences have significantly bolstered his confidence as he prepares for future challenges. 'I wouldn't say my game has changed drastically, but those wins have certainly enhanced my confidence,' he remarked. 'I've now played more matches at that level, and I'm optimistic about what lies ahead.'


During the crucial moments of the Pro Mixed Doubles final, Arjun was observed engaging in self-talk between rallies. He explained that this technique helps him manage pressure during critical matches. 'Whenever I start to feel nervous, I talk to myself and encourage myself. That's my approach,' he shared.


Recently appointed as the captain of India's Under-18 team for the forthcoming Pickleball World Cup, Arjun described this role as both a privilege and a source of motivation. 'I am very happy and grateful for this opportunity,' he stated. 'I will continue to work hard and strive to perform my best at the World Cup.'


Arjun also emphasized that his recent international experiences have imparted valuable lessons that he aims to apply in his leadership role. 'The most important takeaway is gaining experience and learning how to manage pressure. That's what I intend to bring to the team.'


Despite his achievements in various events, Arjun acknowledged that singles remains the most challenging format for him. 'Definitely, singles is the toughest for me.' With increasing international exposure, two additional titles to his name, and the responsibility of leading India's junior team, Arjun is firmly establishing himself as one of the most promising young talents in Indian pickleball.
