Ancy Sojan Secures Silver in Long Jump

Ancy Sojan of India achieved a remarkable silver medal in the women's long jump final during the Asian Games held in Aichi-Nagoya on Sunday. She recorded a best jump of 6.53 meters, narrowly missing the gold by just two centimeters. The gold medal was claimed by Huang Yingying from China, who jumped 6.55 meters, while Tan Mengyi, also from China, took home the bronze with a jump of 6.46 meters. India's Shaili Singh finished in fourth place with a jump of 6.42 meters.

Tejaswin Shankar Wins Bronze in Decathlon

Tejaswin Shankar represented India by winning the bronze medal in the decathlon at the Asian Games, accumulating an impressive total of 7,934 points. The gold medal was awarded to Japan's Yuma Maruyama, who scored 8,123 points, while China's Chen Xinghua earned silver with 8,012 points. Shankar aimed to defend his silver medal from the last Asian Games but ultimately secured bronze this time, showcasing a strong performance that surpassed his previous score from the last event. Earlier this year, he had crossed the 8,000-point threshold.

Men's 800m Heats Results

In the men's 800m heats, India's Mohammed Afsal qualified for the finals by finishing third in his heat with a time of 1:47.37. He was just 0.01 seconds behind Qatar's Hatim Aitoulghazi, who clocked 1:47.36, while Iran's Ali Amirian led the heat with a time of 1:47.26. Afsal advanced as one of the two fastest runners outside the automatic qualifiers.

Conversely, Krishan Kumar from India did not qualify for the men's 800m final, finishing third in Heat 3 with a time of 1:50.38. He trailed behind China's Xi Xiaoheng, who finished in 1:49.82, and Japan's Nanaki Manno, who clocked 1:49.91, both of whom secured automatic spots in the final. The top two from each heat and the next two fastest runners moved on to the finals.
