Panghal dominated his match in the Bantamweight division, while Sagar faced a tough opponent in the heavyweight category. Exciting Matches at the National Boxing Championships

New Delhi, January 4: Amit Panghal, the gold medalist from the 2018 Asian Games, representing SSCB, along with Sagar from Haryana, achieved notable victories to progress in the Elite Men and Women National Boxing Championships. These championships are taking place at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida this Sunday.


This event marks a historic moment as it is the first instance where both men's and women's National Championships are being conducted at the same location, featuring 600 boxers competing across 10 weight categories for each gender, according to a statement from the Boxing Federation of India (BFI).


Amit, competing in the Bantamweight division, showcased his skills by decisively defeating Usman Mohd Sultan from Bihar, securing a unanimous decision.


In the heavyweight division, Sagar faced a tough challenge from Edwin of Kerala but ultimately triumphed with a split decision.


Additionally, Lalrambuat from Mizoram also claimed victory in the bantamweight category, winning by unanimous decision against Santosh Kumar from Odisha.
