Nurburg, Germany - On March 13, Indian racecar driver Akshay Gupta announced a significant advancement in his endurance racing career by partnering with Sorg Rennsport. He will be competing in the Porsche Cayman GT4 at the Nurburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) and the prestigious Nurburgring 24 Hours.

The 33-year-old from Ahmedabad will pilot the #949 Porsche Cayman GT4 CS in the Cup3 class, a segment renowned for its competitiveness within the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nurburgring (PETN).

Gupta will share the driving responsibilities with 19-year-old German racer Darian Donkel, a former teammate from Mertens Motorsport, and Aaron Wenisch, another German driver.

After spending three seasons in the VT2 production classes with Hyundai and BMW, where he secured six podiums and two victories, Gupta is now ready to tackle the challenges of the Cup3 class.

Reflecting on his journey, Gupta stated, “The past three years in production classes have been invaluable. I aimed to reach certain milestones before advancing in GT racing.”

He expressed enthusiasm about joining a well-established team, saying, “I’m thrilled to be part of a strong and experienced team. My teammates are fast, and I’m familiar with them from previous races. My goal this year is to clinch the Pro-AM championship in the PETN.”
