Akshay Bhatia delivered an outstanding performance on moving day at the Cadillac Championship, climbing into the top 10 with a five-under-par 67. Cameron Young continues to lead the tournament with a six-shot advantage, while other Indian-origin players aim to improve their standings. As the final round approaches, weather conditions may add unpredictability, setting the stage for an exciting conclusion at Doral. Will Bhatia maintain his momentum, or can Young secure his lead? Read on for more details.

Bhatia's Impressive Performance

On the third day of the Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral in Miami, Akshay Bhatia showcased an impressive performance, significantly enhancing his position on the leaderboard. This day, often referred to as 'moving day' in golf, proved to be pivotal for Bhatia, who surged into the top 10 with one of the most remarkable rounds of the tournament.

Bhatia achieved a remarkable five-under-par 67, featuring four birdies and a spectacular eagle. Although he had one bogey, his bold yet measured strategy allowed him to ascend 18 places, moving from tied 26th to tied 8th. With a total score of seven under par after three rounds, Bhatia is well-positioned for a top-10 finish, building on his earlier victory this season.

His round gained traction early on, with birdies at the third, fifth, eighth, and tenth holes. The highlight was at the par-5 12th hole, where he made an eagle, briefly reaching six-under for the day. However, a missed par opportunity on the same hole led to a bogey, slightly interrupting his momentum and placing him just outside the top five. Nonetheless, his overall performance demonstrated both talent and determination, keeping him in contention for the final round.

Cameron Young Maintains Commanding Lead

While Bhatia's ascent was a key highlight, Cameron Young continued to assert his dominance in the tournament. Young maintained his composure with a steady two-under-par 70, bringing his total score to an impressive 15-under-par. This gives him a substantial six-shot lead over a competitive group of challengers, including World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.

Scheffler recorded a solid three-under-par 69, raising his total to nine-under-par, but he was unable to significantly narrow the gap with Young. Si Woo Kim and Kristoffer Reitan also share the same score as Scheffler, remaining in contention but needing exceptional performances in the final round to vie for the title.

Other Indian-Origin Players' Standings

Among other players of Indian descent, Sudarshan Yellamaraju is tied for 37th after a round of 75, while Sahith Theegala has dropped to tied 63rd following a score of 74. Both players will aim to enhance their standings in the concluding round.

Anticipation for the Final Round

As the tournament approaches its final round, weather conditions could significantly impact play. Forecasts indicate potential rain, which may introduce additional challenges and unpredictability to the course. For Bhatia, sustaining the confidence and rhythm from his third round will be crucial if he hopes to advance further up the leaderboard.

Meanwhile, Young's considerable lead places him in a favorable position, but history shows that nothing is certain. He previously held a similar lead at the Masters, ultimately finishing tied for third, highlighting how pressure in the final round can dramatically alter outcomes. With top players in pursuit and challenging conditions anticipated, the stage is set for an exciting conclusion at Doral.
