Ajay Singh Ensures Participation of Boxers Jyoti and Aakash in World Boxing Cup 2026
Boxers Secured for World Boxing Cup
Ajay Singh, the President of the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), has intervened to enable boxers Jyoti (48kg) and Aakash (75kg) to compete in the upcoming World Boxing Cup 2026 (Stage 2) in Guiyang, China. The tournament is scheduled to start on Monday, and initially, these two athletes were not included in the final list approved by the government. Thanks to Singh's efforts, Jyoti and Aakash will now be part of the Indian team for this prestigious event, as confirmed by a BFI announcement.
This decision allows both boxers to gain essential international experience and the chance to face high-caliber opponents, which is crucial for accumulating ranking points on the global stage.
"Our primary duty is to support the athletes. Competing internationally is essential for a boxer's growth, and every deserving athlete should have the chance to challenge themselves against the world's best. Jyoti and Aakash have put in significant effort to reach this point, and it is vital for them to compete, gain exposure against elite international rivals, and enhance their skills at the highest level," stated Ajay Singh, President of the Boxing Federation of India.
With the addition of Jyoti and Aakash, the Indian delegation for the World Boxing Cup Stage 2 in Guiyang has increased from 18 to 20 boxers, consisting of an equal number of 10 men and 10 women.
