Aditya Tare Applauds KKR's Remarkable Turnaround in IPL 2026
KKR's Impressive Comeback
Aditya Tare, a former player for the Mumbai Indians, has praised the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for their remarkable resurgence in the IPL 2026 season. After a challenging start that saw them lose five consecutive matches, KKR has now achieved four consecutive victories.
Their latest triumph occurred on Friday against the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where KKR secured an emphatic eight-wicket win. Finn Allen played a pivotal role, scoring an impressive unbeaten 100 runs off just 47 balls, leading the team to chase down a target of 143 in only 14.2 overs.
Initially, KKR's performance was disappointing, but under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane, they have turned their fortunes around, currently sitting seventh in the IPL 2026 standings with four wins and nine points from ten matches.
Tare Highlights KKR's Key Factors for Success
During a discussion on Star Sports, Tare commended KKR for regaining their momentum at a critical juncture in the tournament. He attributed their success to improved team performances, effective spin and pace bowling, and the strong batting displays from players like Finn Allen and Cameron Green.
Despite their rocky start, Tare believes KKR is now a formidable contender for a top-four finish. He stated, "The IPL is often won by teams that build momentum towards the end, and KKR has successfully turned their season around at a crucial time. They possess several match-winners, and their collective performance is now shining through. Their spin attack has regained its effectiveness, and the pace bowlers are consistently taking wickets. With Finn Allen and Cameron Green in good form, they have a solid chance of competing for a top-four spot."
DC's Struggles and Tare's Critique
In stark contrast to KKR's resurgence, the Delhi Capitals, led by Axar Patel, have struggled, winning only one of their last six matches. They currently sit eighth in the points table with four wins and seven losses from eleven matches.
In their recent match against KKR, DC batted first but could only manage 142 runs for eight wickets, despite a half-century from Pathum Nissanka and a late contribution of 39 runs from Ashutosh Sharma. Their innings faltered during the middle overs, losing wickets in quick succession against KKR's spinners.
Kartik Tyagi and Anukul Roy each took two wickets for KKR, while their disciplined bowling kept DC's scoring under control. KKR comfortably chased the target with 34 balls remaining, led by Finn Allen's explosive innings of 100 runs, supported by Cameron Green's unbeaten 33.
Tare Critiques DC's Batting Approach
Following the match, Tare criticized DC's lack of aggression during the middle overs, which he felt contributed to their batting collapse and increased pressure on the team. He noted that DC scored only 11 runs in five overs during this phase, allowing KKR's spinners to dominate.
Tare remarked, "Delhi's middle-order collapse put them under too much pressure. Their batters failed to regain momentum against the bowlers. There was a noticeable lack of intent. In T20 cricket, scoring just 10 runs off 30 balls in the middle overs is unacceptable. They should have attempted to attack and shift the pressure back onto the bowlers. That was completely absent from DC's batting. However, credit goes to Ashutosh Sharma for his late innings, which helped Delhi achieve a more respectable total."
