Aditya Ruhela's PPA Tour Achievement

Aditya Ruhela has made headlines as the latest Indian athlete to secure a prestigious deal with the PPA Tour, highlighting India's expanding footprint in the global pickleball arena. Following in the footsteps of Armaan Bhatia, Ruhela becomes the second Indian to gain entry into what is considered the premier pickleball league in the United States. While the specifics of the agreement are not publicly available, an individual known as “superagent2024” shared the news on Instagram regarding Ruhela's signing with the PPA Tour.

Last August, Bhatia made history by being the first Indian to sign a PPA Tour contract. His performances this year have garnered significant attention, including commendations from Ben Johns, a leading figure in American pickleball, who labeled Bhatia as “underrated.” During his debut at the Newport Beach Open, Bhatia showcased his skills with wins over Tom Protzek in the Round of 16 and Jay Devilliers in the first round.

Ruhela, who played for the Lucknow Leopards in the first Indian Pickleball League (IPBL), is recognized as one of India's premier talents. His consistent performance and achievements have solidified his status, having held both the India No. 1 and Asia No. 1 rankings, demonstrating his dominance at the continental level. Notably, Ruhela made history as the first Indian to secure an international medal outside Asia, earning a silver at the English Open, which further established him as a pioneer for Indian pickleball on the world stage.

Education has also been a crucial aspect of his journey. Reflecting on his experience at the University of Delhi, Ruhela remarked, “My undergraduate degree from DU was a life-changing moment for my life, as I met such great personalities that helped the sport grow so much in India,” he shared with Pickleball Now last year.

A young talent from Uttar Pradesh, Ruhela currently boasts a DUPR rating of 5.5. His recent PPA Tour contract may pave the way for further opportunities in Major League Pickleball (MLP) and the PPA Tour Asia, broadening his influence in the elite circles of the sport.
