In a thrilling display at the 2026 Asian Games, Indian opener Abhishek Sharma showcased his remarkable talent by scoring 61 runs off just 28 balls in the men's cricket gold medal match against Pakistan. This performance allowed him to match Yuvraj Singh's record for the most sixes in an innings during India-Pakistan T20 encounters.
Equaling Yuvraj Singh's Record
Abhishek's innings featured an impressive seven sixes and three fours, achieving a strike rate of 217.68. By hitting seven sixes, he joined Yuvraj Singh, who had previously set the record in Ahmedabad in 2012. Notably, Abhishek had also hit five sixes against Pakistan in Dubai during the 2025 Asia Cup. With this latest performance, he has now accumulated 14 sixes against Pakistan in T20 matches, surpassing Virat Kohli's previous record of 11.
Setting New T20 Records
At just 26 years old, Abhishek continues to break records for the most sixes by an Indian in T20 cricket within a calendar year. He has already hit 104 sixes in 2026, following a record of 108 in 2025. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi trails him with 90 sixes this year, while Abhishek had 87 in 2024 and Suryakumar Yadav had 85 in 2022.
Fastest to 100 Sixes
Abhishek has also made his mark by becoming one of the fastest players to reach 100 sixes in a calendar year, achieving this in just 651 balls. This feat places him second to West Indies' Andre Russell, who accomplished it in 589 balls in 2019. Dewald Brevis follows closely with 653 balls in 2025.
Reaching 400 T20 Sixes
Additionally, Abhishek has joined an elite group of players who have reached 400 T20 sixes in the fewest balls. He achieved this milestone in 3,513 balls, ranking behind Russell's 3,027 and ahead of Chris Gayle's 3,557.

Abhishek's explosive innings were crucial in helping India set a formidable total of 211/6 against Pakistan in the gold medal match.
