Auckland [New Zealand], October 29: Indian opener Abhishek Sharma is on the brink of surpassing KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya, needing just 49 runs to become the fourth-highest run-scorer for India in T20 internationals. He has a significant opportunity to cement his legacy as one of India's T20I legends during the upcoming fourth T20I against New Zealand in Auckland. Abhishek recently achieved a remarkable feat by scoring 113 runs off just 38 balls in the third T20I while chasing a target of 199, setting a record for the most T20 centuries by an Indian, with 11 to his name, overtaking the iconic Virat Kohli.

Statistical Milestones and Projections

In the Auckland T20I, Abhishek has the chance to ascend the run charts further. Over 70 T20I matches, he has accumulated 2,240 runs in 69 innings, boasting an average of 33.43 and an impressive strike rate of 196.83, which includes four centuries and 14 fifties, with a top score of 135. A New Era in Indian Batting

If Abhishek manages to become the fourth-highest run-scorer, it will highlight a remarkable evolution in Indian T20I batting. Rohit and Virat laid the groundwork as early run-scorers and match-winners, followed by Suryakumar, known for his aggressive batting style that has taken India's T20I game to new heights in the 2020s. Abhishek, emerging from Suryakumar's era, has established himself as a dynamic player, known for his aggressive six-hitting, having hit 158 sixes in his T20I career, with a strike rate nearing 200.

In 2023 alone, Abhishek has scored 1,125 runs in 37 T20Is, averaging 31.25 with a strike rate of 206.42, including two centuries and eight fifties, with a best score of 113.
