Abhishek Sharma Dominates T20I Rankings

Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma has secured the top position in the latest ICC Men's T20I batting rankings, boasting an impressive 917 rating points. The 25-year-old has amassed 1,297 runs across 38 matches, including two centuries and eight half-centuries. In the recent five-match T20I series against New Zealand, he was the third-highest scorer with 182 runs, featuring two half-centuries. His career strike rate stands at 194, significantly enhancing India's batting performance during the powerplay. Notably, he has hit the most sixes in T20I matches since the 2024 World Cup.

Suryakumar Yadav's Rise and Tilak Varma's Setback

Phil Salt trails Abhishek as the second-ranked player, 83 points behind. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has made a notable comeback, climbing to sixth place in the batting rankings after refining his technique. He scored 242 runs in the recent series against New Zealand, achieving a remarkable strike rate of 196.75 and an average of 80.67, making him the top run-scorer in that series.

Conversely, Tilak Varma has fallen from third to fourth place due to an injury that sidelined him during the New Zealand series. He recently participated in a T20 World Cup warm-up match against the USA after undergoing abdominal surgery.

Bowling Rankings: Chakaravarthy Maintains Lead

Indian spinner Varun Chakaravarthy remains at the pinnacle of the ICC Men's bowling rankings with a rating of 776, thanks to his consistent performances. Pakistan's Abrar Ahmed has climbed two spots to secure second place with 748 rating points. Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh, who was the leading wicket-taker in the New Zealand series, has moved up to the 14th position.

International Players Making Progress

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green and South African opener Quinton de Kock have made strides in the batting rankings, now positioned at 14th and 22nd, respectively. Ishan Kishan has improved to 32nd place, while Ryan Rickelton of South Africa has surged 42 spots to reach 40th.

In the bowling rankings, England's Adil Rashid has advanced to fourth place, and New Zealand's T20I captain Mitchell Santner has jumped eight positions to tie for 23rd with Kuldeep Yadav. These players are expected to play pivotal roles for their teams in the upcoming T20 World Cup, commencing on February 7 in India and Sri Lanka.
