In a remarkable achievement, Abhishek Sharma has secured the number one position in the ICC Men's T20 batting rankings for the first time, surpassing Australian batsman Travis Head. This milestone marks a significant moment for the young Indian cricketer.
Currently, a five-match Test series is underway between India and England, with four matches already played. England leads the series 2-1, and the final Test is scheduled to take place at The Oval in London starting July 31. Ahead of this match, the ICC has released the latest rankings.
The recent draw in the Manchester Test has benefitted several star players from both India and England. Interestingly, the T20 rankings have showcased more impressive performances compared to the Test rankings.
Abhishek Sharma's rise to the top of the ICC Men's T20 batting rankings makes him the third Indian player to achieve this feat, following in the footsteps of Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav.
Changes in T20 Rankings
Sharma has taken the number one title from Travis Head, who had held the position for over a year. Additionally, Josh Inglis has made a significant leap, moving up six places to rank ninth. Tim David has also seen a notable rise, jumping twelve spots to reach the 28th position, while Cameron Green has surged by 64 runs, landing at the 24th spot.
