Abhishek Sharma Claims Top Spot in T20I Rankings

Indian cricket's rising star, Abhishek Sharma, has officially been named the No.1 batter in T20 internationals, according to the latest rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on July 30.

Sharma achieved this milestone by surpassing Australia's Travis Head, who has now fallen to the second position. The 24-year-old's remarkable performance, including a stunning 135-run innings against England at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai earlier this year, propelled him to the top.

With this achievement, Sharma joins the elite company of Indian cricketers, being only the third to hold the No.1 position in T20Is, following in the footsteps of Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav. His current rating stands at 829 points, making him the fifth highest-rated Indian batter in T20I history, trailing behind Suryakumar Yadav, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Tilak Varma.

Recently, Virat Kohli also made headlines by becoming the second Indian batter to surpass 900 points in the rankings after Suryakumar Yadav.

Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja Rise in Test Rankings

In addition to Abhishek Sharma's T20I success, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja have also made significant strides in the Test rankings. Pant has moved up to No.7 in the Menโ€™s Test Batting Rankings after a resilient innings of 54 runs off 75 balls, despite playing with a fractured toe during the Manchester Test.

Jadeja's impressive century in the second innings of the same Test has earned him a career-high ranking, climbing five spots to No.29. He scored 107 runs off 185 balls and formed a crucial 203-run partnership with Washington Sundar, who also contributed with a century, to secure a draw before the series finale at The Oval.

Sundar has jumped eight places to reach No.13 in the all-rounder rankings following his match-saving performance.

Jasprit Bumrah and Yashasvi Jaiswal's Rankings

Despite a lackluster performance in the Manchester Test, where he conceded over 100 runs and took only two wickets, Jasprit Bumrah remains the No.1 Test bowler.

On the other hand, young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has dropped from fifth to eighth place due to inconsistent performances in the ongoing Test series against England. He scored a commendable 58 runs in the first innings but was dismissed for a duck in the second.

Joe Root Maintains No.1 Test Batter Status

In the latest Test rankings, England's Joe Root has retained his position as the top batter following his century against India in the Manchester Test. This century marks his 38th in Test cricket, tying him with Kumar Sangakkara for the fourth-highest century tally in Test history, behind legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Jacques Kallis, and Ricky Ponting.

Root has also surpassed Ricky Ponting, Rahul Dravid, and Jacques Kallis to become the second-highest run-scorer in Test cricket, trailing only Tendulkar. He has accumulated 13,409 runs at an average of 51.17, positioning him to challenge Tendulkarโ€™s all-time record of 15,921 runs.

Ben Stokes and Ben Duckett's Rankings

England's captain Ben Stokes has made a notable jump in the all-rounders rankings, moving up three places to No.3 after his impressive performance in the Manchester Test, where he achieved both a five-wicket haul and a century.

Ben Duckett has also re-entered the Top 10, climbing five spots to No.10 following his 94-run innings in the Manchester Test.
