Abhishek Sharma's Journey to 2000 Runs

Abhishek Sharma is on the brink of becoming the fourth player in Sunrisers Hyderabad's history to surpass 2000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). As SRH prepares to face Delhi Capitals in match 31 of IPL 2026 on Tuesday, Sharma has accumulated 1941 runs for the franchise.


Elite Run-Scorers of SRH


Currently, only three players have scored more runs than Sharma for the Hyderabad team. Leading the pack is Australian star David Warner, who has amassed 4014 runs in 95 matches, boasting an impressive average of 49.55 and a strike rate of 142.59. Following him is Shikhar Dhawan with 2768 runs, and Kane Williamson with 2101 runs.


At just 25 years old, Sharma is set to become the second Indian, after Dhawan, to reach the 2000-run mark for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has played 80 matches, maintaining an average of 26.95 and a strike rate of 166.89.


Sharma also holds the record for the highest individual score for SRH in IPL history. His remarkable innings of 141 runs off just 55 balls against Punjab Kings last year featured 14 fours and 10 sixes, aiding SRH in chasing down a target of 246. This score is also the highest by an Indian player in IPL.


Current Team Status and Performance


In the ongoing IPL 2026 season, Abhishek Sharma has had a mixed performance, scoring 188 runs across six innings, with a top score of 74.


Under the leadership of Ishan Kishan, SRH currently sits in fourth place on the points table, having secured three victories out of six matches. They are set to compete against Delhi Capitals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, where Sharma aims to achieve his milestone.


Although full-time captain Pat Cummins has returned from injury, he will not participate in this match. Additionally, Gerald Coetzee has been brought in as a replacement for David Payne, who has been ruled out for the season.
