Vaibhav's Remarkable Performance
In a stunning display during the Vijay Hazare Trophy Plate League match on Wednesday, 14-year-old Vaibhav, representing Bihar, scored a remarkable century against Arunachal Pradesh in just 36 balls. This achievement marks the second-fastest century in Indian List A cricket history, surpassed only by Anmolpreet Singh, who set the record last season with a 35-ball century.
According to reports, Vaibhav did not stop there; he reached 150 runs off 54 balls. Ultimately, he was dismissed after scoring 190 runs off 84 balls. Thanks to his explosive innings, Bihar amassed a total of 574 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs, while Arunachal Pradesh was bowled out for just 177 runs, resulting in a massive victory margin of 397 runs.
Following this historic innings, Congress MP and former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor took to social media to express his admiration, noting that the last time such extraordinary talent was seen at the age of 14 was with Sachin Tendulkar, and now Vaibhav Suryavanshi appears to be on a similar path.
This isn't the first time Vaibhav has made headlines. Previously, he scored an unbeaten 108 runs off 61 balls against Maharashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, becoming the youngest player to achieve a century in the tournament's history.
Moreover, in the Under-19 Asia Cup, he played a remarkable innings of 171 runs off 95 balls against the UAE, which stands as the highest individual score by an Indian player in the tournament. In the Rising Stars Asia Cup, he showcased his talent further by scoring 144 runs off just 42 balls for India 'A'.
Cricket experts believe that with the right guidance and patience, Vaibhav Suryavanshi could become a significant name in Indian cricket in the coming years. His batting has already made it clear that Indian cricket has gained another extraordinary talent.
